More than just the latest forest-inflected Couture show, with plenty of florals flourishing down the runway at Chanel: Karl always has a trick up his sleeve, of course! While the collection underscored some themes other couturiers have been pushing this season, Karl’s idea of romance is a tad darker than his counterparts’. Also of note: the strong emphasis on the shoulders, with collars to contemplate. Birdsong followed the models, nymphlike as they wound through a set of oak and pine trees that had been imported into the venue in a sort of Shakespearean dream.

To wear Jason Wu (again) or not to wear Jason Wu. That was the question on Michelle Obama’s mind pre-inauguration. In 2009, the First Lady wore a white, one-shoulder gown by Wu to the Inaugural Ball, catapulting the designer to fashion stardom. Four years later, Wu again worked closely with Mrs. Obama’s team, yet there was no confirmation as to whether or not she’d remain loyal.

Barneys’ newish owner, Richard Perry, bought the company last year and is already making some moves, literally: The company plans to open a flagship store complete with a Co-Op outpost somewhere downtown, likely below 14th Street. The news follows a recent announcement that the company will shutter its 18th Street Co-Op location on March 1st. Sad news for Chelsea-based chicsters!

The new John Varvatos campaign pairs Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin’s legendary guitarist) and emerging music artist Gary Clark Jr. The campaign was shot in London by Danny Clinch at the historic Rivoli Ballroom. “Jimmy Page has been a music and fashion icon of mine since 1970,” Varvatos explains in a statement. “Gary Clark Jr. is the real deal: amazing guitar player, singer, songwriter, and friend.
