View from the Front Row: Victoria’s Secret

Victoria's Secret, New York, November 2015

The Daily dishes the insider fix from the scantily clad spectacular…

THE SHOW: Victoria’s Secret 20th Annual Runway Show

LOCATION: 69th Regiment Armory, New York City

THE VIBE: Sexy (after all, these are the sexiest women on the planet wearing next to nothing). The whole things feels somewhere between reality TV show meets exclusive pop concert meets Disneyland for adults (the host even hailed it “the greatest show on earth”).

TOP MODELS: Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid made their “Angel” debuts alongside veterans Behati Prinsloo (who opened the show for the second year running wearing a corseted bra, orange tasseled throw over, and thigh-high suede boots), Adriana Lima (who showcased a $2 million diamond- and gem-encrusted fantasy bra), Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, and Candice Swanepoel.

SPOTTED FRONT ROW: Kris Jenner accompanied by her Kanye lookalike boyfriend Corey Gamble (what’s with that?) was in the frow to support Kendall at the first show, at 4. Ex Caitlyn Jenner joined her for the evening show at 7.

WOW MOMENT: Rihanna pulled out of performing last minute, leaving it to Ellie Goulding, The Weeknd, and Selena Gomez to rock the crowd. Goulding’s performance of “Love Me Like You Do” from the 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack (sex sells) and the winter wonderland backdrop complete with faux snow had everyone on their feet.

GOSSIP: The Daily cannot quite work out the crowd, as they were not your typical fashion front rowers—you won’t catch Anna Wintour or Glenda Bailey here, though you will find plenty of excited male punters.

THE CLOTHES: Or should we say, lack of. The themes included Boho Psychedelic, Exotic Butterflies, Portrait of an Angel, Pink USA, Ice Angel ,and Fireworks.  There was plenty of flesh, sparkle, color, and elaborate takes on the “wings.”

VERDICT: The Daily quizzed a prominent Condé Nast fashion director for her verdict and the response was swift. “I’d never been to one, so it was interesting. I’m surprised how pre-recorded it was.” On a positive note, the annual event raises millions for charity (2.5 last year).

AFTER PARTY: After changing into their slinky evening gowns, the Angels joined A-listers to celebrate at TAO Downtown.
