Elie Saab Couture Spring 2015

by Dena Silver

Elie Saab’s Couture show audience must have felt like kids in a candy store; the sweets in question were frothy frocks, dusted with a light coating of sparkles and embellished to the nth degree. The color scheme stayed pretty true to pale pinks, soft nudes, spring greens, and snowy whites, but toward the end of the 55-piece collection, there were moody tinges of black and a handful of watercolor gowns. The finale look, modeled by Anna Cleveland, was certainly a (sophisticated) Disney princess-worthy piece; a low, slim-cut bodice led into a wide pink ball gown, covered in images of feathers and doused in glitter.

There were plenty of tapis rouge ready dresses on show, like a pale off-the shoulder gown with a feathered skirt and a thigh-high slit. Or perhaps any of the long-sleeve fit-and-flare dresses, accented with Swiss dots and delicate leather belts. The mods had Old Hollywood-esque sideswept waves, but the hair was tousled a bit and paired with smoky eyes. The combination felt fresh with the precious couture gowns, putting a modern spin on the completely romantic show.
