Max Mara Spring 2015

by Dena Silver

Prepare for a bit of a time warp to the decade du season: Max Mara took a trip to the early ’70s for Spring. The influence was spelled out clearly in hues of rust, camel, and brown, but it was also found in fabrics including suede trousers and a crochet sweater. To further prove the point, pussy bows and busily printed duster cardigans were thrown into the mix, alongside updated versions of go-go boots. Suffice it to say, the collection didn’t read as a trip to a vintage store, but rather an update on the classics. In fact, there was a nod to Yves Saint Laurent’s iconic safari jacket in the form of a dress, featuring a low neckline and a thigh-high slit. While the minimalists might want to stray from this collection, there are plenty of worthy looks for everyone else to indulge in.
