2. Bird of Flight
Founder Naomi Reid is a native New Yorker, but her shoe design career didn’t begin until after she moved to San Francisco. The young company has all of its intricately designer kicks produced in a factory in Brazil that is committed to its community and its environment.

3. Charles David
Charles David, and its more contemporary line Charles by Charles David, have been producing elegant yet trend-driven footwear for 30 years. It’s a staple brand for a reason — and it’s one fans count on to have the perfect shoe for any classy occasion.

4. Chinese Laundry
The Los Angeles-based label was founded in 1971 by Robert and Carol Goldman, and has since grown into four lines, generating over $1 billion in sales. CL By Laundry was launched in 2003 as a trend-driven collection. Meanwhile Dirty Laundry has a more bohemian vibe. Finally there’s Kristin Cavallari by Chinese Laundry, a collaboration with the reality TV star.
