Barneys New York has joined the likes of Amazon and Net-a-Porter and is now offering same-day delivery on Barneys.com, making it one of the first e-tailers with a physical luxury department store behind it to provide the expedited service. All of Manhattan (and parts of the island’s trend-savvy offshoot, Brooklyn) can expect orders placed by Noon on Monday through Saturday to land on stoops before 8 p.m., for a flat rate of $25. Returns, either picked up by a courier service or mailed, are free.

“We are thrilled to enhance our customer experience for Barneys.com with the launch of same-day delivery in Manhattan and Brooklyn,” said Matthew Woolsey, executive vice president of digital at Barneys New York. “This offering, combined with our New York stores and award-winning digital experience, means we can give our customers the best of all worlds in luxury retail.”

The amped up delivery offering is part of a bigger effort to enhance the customer experience, both in store and online. Just last month, Barneys launched an app for The Window from Barneys New York, which features interactive and shoppable men’s and women’s publications, and in March it announced a redesign of barneys.com, barneyswarehouse.com, and thewindow.barneys.com for a more personalized and editorially driven experience.

But it’s not finished yet! The retailer is partnering with Connor Stationary on a luxury digital paperless app, which is expected to launch in spring 2016.
