Carmen Sol Launches Their “Be Jelly!” Campaign in SoHo

On Monday night, Carmen Sol co-founders and real-life couple Carmen Sol Espejo and Sebastiano Di Bari fêted the launch of their new “Be Jelly” campaign in New York City. It was a dual launch, really, as the couple was also celebrating the opening of their first brick-and-mortar store in the U.S. Their new retail outpost is in Miami so the pair invited guests to the SoHo boutique Flying Solo for the bash.

“I wanted something that you could wear on the beach, in the sand. Something that you could just wipe off and look really cute wearing without being worried about ruining it,” Espejo explained, of the “Jelly” material used to create all of the brand’s accessories. It’s essentially a high-octane PVC, dyed in highlighter yellow, cream, and hot pink. “Plus, it’s moderately priced and made in Italy!”

Upon arriving, partygoers were gifted a “LOVE” bag charm and a colorful Jelly bangle, then perused the array of accessories and sipped Champagne.

According to Espejo brand may expand into ready-to-wear one day. “It’s funny because you always say no, no, no. [Accessories] is what we do. But now, with our store, we started doing a little bit with cover-ups and they’re really selling. Everything evolves eventually, so who knows!”
