DAY 8: SEPTEMBER 30, 2019
The Alexander McQueen show took place at the Musée de l’orangerie and had as its inspiration a trip to Ireland made by creative director Sarah Burton and her team. Textures were the protagonists in short and long dresses, some made of guipure and mixed with leather and others in embroidered micro tulle with diagonal cuts that bared the skin. Waist-tight suits in neutral colors and wide leather belts gave modernity to the looks. A live orchestra musicalized the show and marked the beat of the catwalk, where Kaia Gerber stood out with a dress with voluminous textures similar to a flower. Models wore their hair up with a middle part and some loose little braids decorated with leather cords alluding to the place where this collection was originated.
The Musée des Arts Décoratifs was the picked spot to present Giambattista Valli’s new collection, in a setting that included magnificent bouquets of wildflowers. Some models even had freshly cut orchids on their faces, with soft white and yellow petals framing their eyes. Floral prints in gauze dresses created super feminine and delicate dresses, while ruffled layers gave volume to the pieces. To complete the looks, Valli added Chantilly laced hats. Embellished ballet shoes were a great complement for foamy dresses with puffed up sleeves.
Stella McCartney presented her new collection at the Palais Garnier. In addition to being very feminine, it was one of the most eco-friendly ones from this Paris Fashion Week so far. The show also had big celebrities sitting first row, such as Natalia Vodianova, Ellie Goulding, Clémence Poésy, and Maisie Williams. The show was accompanied by a grainy video of zebras and hippos mating, while the soundtrack was in charge to a sultry soundtrack of Donna Summer singing “Love to Love You Baby.” Models wore wide-striped silk pants, long and fluid boyfriend style blazers, sexy blouses with wide sleeves and a dark blue lacy one-piece what was incredible. Extra large earrings were the protagonists among accessories, but sunglasses with straps and peaked caps also stood out.
