Hamptonite Joey Wölffer continues to expand beyond the East End! After launching Styleliner in 2010—the first-ever mobile luxury treasure chest on wheels where she showcases chic, bohemian one-of-a-kind finds—and opening locations in Sag Harbor and Nantucket, Wölffer is now taking her signature concept to the West Coast with a shop at Platform LA in Los Angeles this Friday. Joey breaks down why she decided to venture west and what you can expect to find in the digs, which will be open through the fall. Plus, keep your eyes peeled for Joey’s own creations—she recently debuted an eponymous collection of handbags that combine Italian leather with hand-woven straps and rare embellishments from around the world.
Joey, why was L.A. the right location to open up your third Styleliner store?
L.A. has always been a dream location of mine, but finding the right spot at a time when we were ready has always been the struggle. When Platform approached us to open in their amazing space, I immediately jumped on the opportunity. Platform is bringing a breath of fresh air to retail and the Culver City area is growing so quickly. We are excited to share our brand with some new customers in such an innovative location.
What will be offered at the store?
All my locations offer a curated selection of clothing, accessories, and jewelry catered to the locale. We don’t ever differ on our point-of-view, however. Our focus is consistent in that we love to offer our customers one-of-a-kind items they will not be able to find anywhere else. We will carry some of our favorite brands such as Dassios, Hemant and Nandita, Alix of Bohemia, Rose and Rose, and Laurence Bras that we carry in our Sag Harbor and Nantucket stores. These are brands that our East Coast customers love, and we are sure they will translate well in the West Coast! Some new brands that we will also carry exclusively in L.A. include Covet & Vue—bohemian style dresses in gorgeous crepe de chine fabric and an array of colors that are very L.A.!
Will you be hosting in-store events?
We will be hosting an opening event in mid-May and then will have a few shopping and wine-night events throughout the summer. We will also host a series of trunk shows with different designers.
Where do you see yourself expanding next?
We are opening a year-round space in a much bigger location in Sag Harbor. We are also opening our pop-up location in Nantucket again this summer and we are continuing to expand our line. We don’t have plans for other locations at the moment, but my mantra is always ‘Wait for the perfect location, it will always come to you!’ This has really worked for me this year in all of my businesses.
