London-based designer Mary Katrantzou is designing a capsule collection for Victoria’s Secret, which will debut during the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show this November.
“Everything that Victoria’s Secret creates is about a woman feeling confident and empowered—and also having fun with what she is wearing, This collaboration is going to be bold, fun and playful,” said Katrantzou in a statement.
This is the second time in as many years that Victoria’s Secret has partnered with a luxury fashion designer, last year’s collaborator being Balmain’s Olivier Rousting.
As in the case of the Balmain collaboration, pieces from Katrantzou’s collection will be available in select Victoria’s Secret stores following the show and throughout the holidays. The collection will also be available on Victoriassecret.com. “The pieces can be worn as undergarments or as actual clothing,” Katrantzou told Vogue. “So all the fabrications have dual purpose. I wanted to stay true to our brand heritage, so pattern and color are integral to the collection, but we always kept the Victoria’s Secret girl central to the design process. There’s a nod to silhouettes that we’ve developed in past collections, but there are also new silhouettes that we designed with VS in mind.”
Victoria’s Secret has yet to reveal any photos of the actual collection, so it’s anybody’s guess what the final pieces will look like. But if the teaser artwork provided VS is any indication — and why wouldn’t it be? — florals will most likely feature heavily, perhaps in the kind of kaleidoscopic arrangements favored by Katrantzou earlier in her career. Only time will tell!
