The ‘Queen of Pop’ is welcoming a new slew of designers to collaborate on a high-fashion set of costumes for her upcoming “Rebel Heart Tour,” named after her 13th studio album, reports WWD. Based on Madonna’s wardrobe track record (remember her famous collab with Jean Paul Gaultier for her ‘1990 “Blonde Ambition” world tour?), we can pretty much expect nothing less than, well, fabulous. The lineup? Jeremy Scott, Alexander Wang, Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele, Fausto Puglisi, Prada, Miu Miu, Swarovski, and Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran. She’s had previous relationships with most of the designers: she wore Scott for Moschino to the Costume Institute gala in May and on many red carpets. Plus, she was decked in Moschino (almost head-to-toe) in her latest vid, “B**ch I’m Madonna,” where Wang also made a chic cameo.
The only brand who’s mysteriously missing from the group is Versace. Madge starred in the Italian label’s 2015 advertising campaign, yet there are no signs that the brand will be collaborating with the ‘Material Girl’ on the wardrobe front of the tour. Por quoi? The answer is, simply, unknown.
Other designers who have collaborated with the singer for past tours, in addition to Gaultier, include Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Dolce & Gabanna, Prada, Christian Lacroix, and…Riccardo Tisci, who famously designed the costumes during Madonna’s halftime show at the 2012 Super Bowl. The “Rebel Heart” tour opens on September 9 in Montreal, Canada and concludes on March 27 (2016!) in Brisbane, Australia. We’re keeping our eyes pealed for the looks du jour…
