A new collaboration between Helmut Lang and Hood By Air designer Shayne Oliver is underway! The news comes as part of another announcement that chief executive Andrew Rosen has brought Dazed magazine editor-in-chief Isabella Burley on board in a newly created position of editor-in-residence. Burley is the first editor to join the brand. One of Burley’s first moves is a collaboration with Oliver for a special project: to design a line of women’s and men’s clothing and accessories, which is set to launch in September 2017. Burley is also prepping to relaunch the brand’s website and digital presence this summer.
“Helmut Lang is a pioneering company and we are going back to its heritage of being bold,” said Rosen in a statement. Business of Fashion reported that Helmut Lang designer Alexandre Plokhov, who joined the company in 2014, has stepped down. As for what this all means for Hood By Air? “Shayne is currently focusing his time on the special project with Helmut Lang,” a HBA representative told BoF. “As a result, HBA will be continued but is transitioning to accommodate this.
