Gucci Releases Whimsical, Flamingo-Filled Pre-Fall ’16 Campaign

by Kristen Heinzinger

Alessandro Michele, where have you holidayed lately? If the Gucci Pre-Fall ’16 campaign is an innuendo, bets are on someplace exotic. Shot by Glen Luchford, the campaign was staged in a glass-domed tropical aviary amid wild plants and wandering flamingos. Piles of books, lounging models, and vintage-looking rugs added a dose of whimsy, which Michele flawlessly infuses in his collections for the house. And the clothes were rife with flora and fauna prints, too—embroidered snakes crawl up one pearl-embellished gown while an army of ants line the bottom, florals abound in a series of minis, jeans and accessories, and even a ladybug print finds its place among plaid on one sweater. Gucci released a short video to accompany the images, showing models twirling, dancing with flamingos, kissing, reading—mostly in slow motion for a surrealist feel. View the video here.
