Sofia Achaval’s Complete Fall 2020 Paris Men’s Fashion Week Diary

Day 3: January 17, 2020

Dior
Before the show was a spectacle on its own, full of celebrities like Robert Pattinson, Fai Khadra, David Beckham, Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne, who posed for photographers. The hall of the Place de la Concorde, where the show took place, had glass panels in the middle of the runway that changed color thanks to the lightning  throughout the event. Once all of us were in place, the music began and we got to see the collection inspired by the late stylist Judy Blame. The line featured long gloves, Chelsea boots, and bomber jackets. Pearls were a prominent detail, seen not only on the clothes but also in the makeup looks. The collection blended masculinity with femininity, and street wear with tailoring. Dior’s trademark motif Toile de Jouy was also present in shirts and ties.

Berluti
Kris Van Assche presented his third collection for Berluti at the historic Opera Garnier in front of guests like Tyga, Isabelle Adjani, and Paul Pogba. Flashy colorful flowers in big vases decorated the place, while striking colors were included in the collection. Suits were matched with turtlenecks, playing with contrasting colors. There were combinations like fuchsia and red, electric blue and beige, and green and purple. But the look that caught my eye was worn by Bella Hadid. It was made up of a blue suit, a fuchsia turtleneck, and a green scarf tied at the neck. Leather items were also important, as well as overcoats, which made outfits more wintry.

Balmain
Olivier Rousteing closed the third day of Fashion Week with his Balmain collection. The show gathered celebrities like Ross Lynch, Charles Melton, and Neymar Jr. The interior of the Grande Halle de la Villette, the show’s location, was decorated to resemble a great desert. Models came out of an elevated door dressed in loose, earth-toned fabrics. Afterwards came a series of metallic pieces. The show also featured Balmain’s new collaboration with the Swiss eyewear brand Akoni. A tribe of dancers took over the runway and performed for the big finale while the designer came out to greet the audience.
