Editor’s Pick: Beck’s Hamptons Weekender

by Charles Manning

What: A classic leather weekender, perfect for summer trips to the Hamptons or more far-flung locales.

Who: Beck was founded by Leigh Moose just last summer. A self-described handbag addict, Moose sought to create something functional, secure, and, most importantly, colorful. “I was once at a fashion show during NYFW with an amazing bright yellow handbag,” she explains on her site. “I felt so amazing carrying this bag. It was winter. At the fashion show, a woman came over to me and glanced down at my bag and with her nose in the air said to me, ‘HA, a yellow bag, how bold…’ I will never forget that moment.”

Today, the company produces bags in six different silhouettes and a Crayola rainbow of colors — from blush to burgundy  and from key lime green to classic black.

Why: The bag features a removable shoulder strap, top zipper closure and interior zipper pocket, and two deep, open pockets on the back — perfect for your phone or water bottle, and a center band with velcro, so you can easily slide it over the handle of your roller luggage. And like all Beck bags, it is lined with luxurious, super-soft velvet. “Every time I slip my hands into my bag, I want to feel why my bag is special,” Moose says. “I want to feel something posh.” Same.
