Balmain’s First Couture Collection in 16 Years Is Finally Here
Last night, Balmain presented its first couture collection since Oscar de la Renta was at the helm of the house. It was also Olivier Rousteing’s first couture collection ever. He knocked it out of the park! Orbs, paint, dramatic shapes, sweeping drapes of fabric, intricate details — it was a stunning show, and absolutely a highlight of the week.

In an effort to “trim costs” and become more profitable, BuzzFeed will reduce its staff by 15%, which is about 200 people. Staff learned the news via a company-wide email sent out last night by CEO Jonah Peretti. “We are doing layoffs at BuzzFeed next week,” he wrote. The restructuring we are undertaking will reduce our costs and improve our operating model so we can thrive and control our own destiny, without ever needing to raise funding again.” Sources told the New York Times that the departments most effected will be international and web content, as well as the news division.

Cartier Launched Its New Collection With Sofia Coppola and Tilda Swinton
Cartier’s international president and CEO Cyrille Vigneron hosted a party last night for the jewelry brand’s latest collection, Les Galaxies de Cartier.

A bevy of fashion designers — including Iris van Herpen, Alber Elbaz, and Haider Ackerman — were in attendance, as were Sofia Coppola, Tilda Swinton, Alek Wek, and more.

Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey Celebrate Their New Film in NY
Last night in New York, Aviron Pictures and The Cinema Society hosted a screening of Serenity. The film’s starts, including Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Diane Lane, were on hand to celebrate their work. Following the screening, guests including Camila Alves, Famke Janssen, and Huma Abedin, headed to the Magic Hour Rooftop for the afterparty.
