Cinco de Mayo was Chic-0 de Mayo chez Tijuana Picnic, the new haute-Mexican eatery from Jean-Marc Houmard (of Indochine) and Jon Neidich (of Acme, The Happiest Hour). Handsome Jean-Marc et Jon hosted an intimate dinner for the city’s red-hot fashion crowd. The food, which is Mexican with a light, healthy Asian touch (think: mako shark skewers with green yuzu kosho, mezcal-marinated shrimp) is totally yummy, but guests like Jenne Lombardo, who really is style and sex on a stick, were just as delish.
Mixologist Jim Kearns whipped up house cocktails like the “Smokin’ Maid (mezcal, cucumber, mint, lime and agave). Other pretty people in the room: Waris Ahluwalia, Athena Calderone, Flour Shop‘s Amirah Kassem (who came from the Project Paz benefit at Hotel Americano), Brendan Fallis and Hannah Bronfman, Victor Glemaud in Dries von Noten), chic Camilla Staerk, Christopher Kane, Cleo Wade, Eddie Borgo, milliner Gigi Burris, cute Ian Bradley, Massimiliano Di Battista, Sabine Heller, Victor Calderone, Yesim Ak, PR powerhouse Sydney Reising, Kate Young, Chelsea Leyland, Heron Preston, Jennifer Fisher, Charlotte Kidd, Keegan Singh and Alessandra Brawn, to name a handful. Tico’s, Tijuana Picnic’s sub-level bar hangout, is set to open next week. This dinner party bunch is straight-up chic, and Jean-Marc and Jon are two of my favorite restauranteurs/nightlife gurus, so book your table tout de suite at Tijuana Picnic.
