(NEW YORK) Last night London was inundated with the biggest faces in fashion, as the British Fashion Awards took place at London Coliseum. The 300 members of the British Fashion Council decided upon which 16 lucky nominees would take home awards. The BFC is made up of influential editors, tastemakers, and stylists and the BFA is their annual event to fête this year’s noteworthy crop of industry talents. The crowd included the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Alexa Chung, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Lulu Guinness, Stella Tennant, Mary Katrantzou, L’Wren Scott, and Arizona Muse.
Miuccia Prada, decked out in a feathered crown, accepted her title of International Designer of the Year, trekking from Italy for the occasion. Christopher Kane took home the Womenswear Designer of the Year accolade, which was presented by his mentor, Donatella Versace. Rita Ora bestowed stiletto-star Nicholas Kirkwood with the statuette for Accessory Designer of the Year. Edie Campbell was crowned Model of the Year, while Harry Styles dethroned Chung as the best-dressed Brit, taking home the British Style Award. Simone Rocha was granted the Emerging Womenswear Designer award by Suki Waterhouse, and JW Anderson thanked Versace and Delphine Arnault during his acceptance speech after being named the New Established Designer.
Both Kate Moss and Suzy Menkes received Special Recognition awards; Moss for her 25-year long modeling career and Menkes for her contribution to fashion journalism. Founders of i-D, Terry and Tricia Jones, were honored with Outstanding Achievement in Fashion, Erdem received the Red Carpet Award…and the list goes on! Sophia Webster, Agi & Sam, Burberry, Christopher Bailey and Lady Amanda Harlech also took home awards for their contributions to the industry.
After the winners collected their awards and stopped for a photo op one last time, the fashion set debunked to The Playboy Club for Marc Jacobs‘ afterparty. While Jacobs and Prada got cozy, Moss debuted an outfit change and plenty of Playboy bunnies were on hand for celebration. Until next year!
