Following a relaxing staycation, our fave Cosmo assistant, Sergio Kletnoy is back to his daily duties. Spicing up his usual to-do list were cameos by John Oliver, Gwen Stefani, Colbie Caillat, and Ella Henderson. How’s that for the best week ever?
After a week away from work, where I handle very pressing matters (yes, tea is important) and sashaying from event to event, I’m back in business. My staycation didn’t take me too far; I spent most of it in a minimally conscious state in front of the television, completely free of all social media. Of course the moment I got back to work, my zen went right out the window. I returned to my daily grind filled with organizing meetings, scheduling appointments, booking trips, interviewing musicians, attending concerts, and making tea by the gallons.
First I met up with Colbie Caillat, whose latest single “Try” along with my Elle.com interview caused a media sensation and helped to take her music video to over twenty million views on YouTube. Then The Boss invited former Daily Show senior British correspondent and HBO’s newest weekly talk show host, John Oliver, for a Q&A at the Hearst Tower. John had the entire audience in stitches for an hour, discussing his newest HBO show Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, finding success in the States and everything in between. My obsession with Oliver began during the Anthony Weiner “Carlos Danger” debacle, so of course I made him pose for “Danger” photos backstage. Oliver has so much rhythm for a Brit and if this talk show host gig doesn’t work out, I totally see him making it as a backup dancer.
Then I got to interview Ella Henderson, one of the U.K.’s most promising new singer-songwriters. Ella made her stateside debut on Good Morning America and blew the roof off with her number one smash “Ghost”. This 18-year old stunner is bound for major success and her powerhouse voice reminds me of Adele and Amy Winehouse. For her debut album, titled Chapter One, she’s worked with some of the biggest names in music and former collaborators of Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Alicia Keys. Prepare to be amazed!
Oh, and after all these years, I finally met Gwen Stefani! And no, it wasn’t a dream. We met at a press launch for Gwen’s new accessories line GX by Gwen Stefani. It was all a bit surreal. Gwen looked stunning and was super sweet. Her six-month old son, Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale was present as well and he certainly wasn’t impressed by all of us gawking at his super hot mom. I also heard that there is new music coming from her next year! So let’s rejoice and wait patiently…
Have a great weekend and be sure to check out my fave new tunes below. Until next time you can catch me on Twitter and Instagram at @SergioKletnoy
