When Rihanna first unveiled Savage x Fenty, her new size-inclusive lingerie line, fan’s rejoiced. Savage sexiness for all manners of curve? Yes, please!
RiRi furthered the point by casting models in a diverse range of shapes and sizes in her campaign material for the brand launch. Breasts, both small and large, were well represented.
But even when a brand does its best to be size-inclusive, it’s bound to disappoint at least a few customers for not being quite inclusive enough, which Rihanna found out the hard way. Despite the fact that Savage x Fenty goes up to 3x in underwear and up to 44 DD in bras, fans have been coming for RiRi since it launched last week, saying their body shapes and sizes aren’t represented.
I was soooooo excited for #SavageXFenty but all the pieces I was excited about don't come in my size. Story of my life. "Size inclusive" is almost always a lie. It always means "here's 25% of what straight sizes get, that's good enough right?" pic.twitter.com/meXnR9b0rA

Rihanna, Queen, Robyn….I was rooting for you when you said meant for everyone but not even half my titty fit in a DD. Where the bras for us plus size girls? #SavageXFenty

Do not try and say you cater for ‘all body types’ by only selling a 32 band size as the smallest option and the most generic, easily available cup sizes 🤦🏻♀️ #savagexfenty #allbodytypes

Ri, the woman in this video is talking about having really giant boobs, but your sign up form only goes up to DDD cup sizes, which seems incongruous. Is @SavageXFenty going to have pieces that fit cup sizes larger than DDD? pic.twitter.com/ouVcxvlebj

The brand responded to almost all the complaining tweets individually, addressing fan concerns by reassuring them more sizes and styles were on track to roll out, though exactly when is unclear.

In an interview with Instyle at last week’s Savage x Fenty launch party, Rihanna said she herself has felt size-excluded in the past. “Women come in so many different shapes and sizes, that it’s such a beautiful thing,” she said. “You want everyone to feel like something for them. I know what it feels like to be left out of that.”
