Mark your calendars: On April 5, Saks Fifth Avenue will host its first Emerging Designer Showcase to discover the crème de la crème at the forefront of advanced fashion. The retailer’s merchant team will hold a forum to evaluate emerging designer collections; to be in the running, designers must submit digital look books, which will be reviewed by Saks’ fashion and buying office. Finalists will head to Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC to formally showcase their collection to the buyers.
“We work tirelessly to scout collections, searching for the best emerging talent in the fashion industry,” said Saks Fifth Avenue chief merchant, Tracy Margolies, in a statement. “I’m passionate about launching this platform and excited to extend this opportunity to all of the unbelievably talented designers on the market.”
To make the cut: Designers must be women’s RTW-focused, bring 8 to 12 product samples for review, have line sheets with wholesale and retail pricing, and be able to fulfill orders and have production and shipping capabilities at the ready.
