What is Lorenzo Serafini’s philosophy? Romanticism infused with references to things past. Serafini is known for his affinity for antiquing and often finds inspiration in pieces he’s picked up from antique dealers around the globe. But this season, he dove into relics of the not so distant past—Brooke Shields in The Blue Lagoon was his reference point this season. Honestly, what could be more romantic than imagining a young Brooke Shields-type on some isolated beach wearing any number of these dresses? But it wasn’t all sweet romance—those soft feminine gowns were topped off with ’80s elements, the era in which the cult film was made, like studded leather wrap belts and slouchy ankle boots. There were even frayed denim pieces throughout, which came in bib blouses and corsets. Philosophy women should be completely swept away by this collection.
