Tod’s will launch its first online retail partnership for ready-to-wear with NET-A-PORTER starting this Wednesday July, 29th. Tod’s will also be launching its men’s ready-to-wear on MR PORTER on September 8th. Previously, Tod’s only distributed its ready-to-wear collections across the brand’s international brick-and-mortar stores. “This prestigious partnership confirms NET-A-PORTER’s position at the forefront of luxury, online retail,” said Sarah Rutson, NET-A-PORTER’s vice president of global buying. “Since launching Tod’s accessories last year on NET-A-PORTER.COM we have seen an overwhelming response from our global customers who love the refined, understated style that distinguishes the Tod’s brand, and I am confident the response to the ready-to-wear will be equally as positive.”
The exclusive partnership, which will last for two seasons, will include not only ready-to-wear, but also footwear, bags, and leather goods. MR PORTER, which has been carrying Tod’s footwear, leather goods, luggage, and accessories since the fall 2012 season, will add ready-to-wear including suede and leather outerwear, tailored denim, wool knitwear, and luxury casual wear. “Tod’s is one of the most well-considered luxury brands around the world, known for its time-honored Italian craftsmanship, luxury leather goods, and accessories,” said Toby Bateman, MR PORTER’s buying and sales director. “We are thrilled to now be bringing Tod’s equally measurable menswear collection exclusively online to our global audience.”
Since Creative Director Alessandra Facchinetti took over the design reigns at Tod’s in 2013, the brand has been increasingly in the spotlight and Facchinetti has taken the brand’s ready-to-wear to the next level. As for NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER, the powerhouse online luxury purveyors have been scoring key exclusives to luxury brands looking to break into the online retail space beyond their own retail doors. Tom Ford just launched online for the first time with NET-A-PORTER on July 15th and will be launching on MR PORTER on September 1st. Who will be next? Stay tuned…
