Angela Bassett, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, Bryan Boy, and Caro Daur were among the many who got a first-hand look at the Max Mara Resort 2020 collection, which was presented at the Neues Museum in Berlin.
Max Mara chose Berlin for its architecture and design, as well as its history as a home to artists. The Neues Museum itself also played a role in the collection’s aesthetic, thanks to its collections of prehistoric artifacts. Thus, the sleek and tailored clothes the brand is known for had pops of texture and detail that harken back to a time before technology. Sculptural bracelets, necklaces and earrings dot the collection thanks to a collaboration with jewelry designer Reema Pachachi.
“The fact that Max Mara itself is strongly dedicated to making art available to the public and demonstrating outstanding support for the arts and young artists internationally, honors us to stage Max Mara’s Resort collection, which will mark another cultural highlight for this building,” says Prof. Dr. Matthias Wemhof, the museum’s director of Prehistory and Early History.
The collection also draws from the personal style of two famous Berlin residents: David Bowie and Marlene Dietrich. As one would expect, the duo inspired suits with sharp shoulders and wide legged trousers. The resulting clothes are classic and sophisticated, with a touch of cool.
