The Daily Front Row Celebrates the Return of Summer
Last night, The Daily Front Row hosted its annual summer kickoff party at Gitano Jungle Room. The party also celebrated the launch of the first issue of this season’s Daily Summer with cover star Cami Morrone wearing Ramy Brook and shot by Sebastian Faena. Guests, including Alan Cumming, Fernando Garcia, Mariah Strongin, Precious Lee, Marquite Pring, Andrew Warren, Ramy Brook Sharp, Jena Goldsack, Talia Richman, Garrett Neff, Grace Atwood, Jimmy Pezzino, Ashley Haas, and Walter Savage, enjoyed music courtesy of DJ Jenny Albright, yummy Tulum-inspired snacks from Gitano’s kitchen, and a bar stocked with cocktails from Two Chicks and Splash Mixers, wine from Whispering Angel, beer from Kronenbourg, and water from LIFEWTR. British jewelry brand Lark & Berry set up a piercing station for guests on Gitano’s Jungle Room Terraces and hot new dating app LOKO had a cheeky activation of their own complete with beach backdrop and fresh coconut water in the shell.

Instagram Will Soon Allow Brands to Promote Influencer Content on Your Feed (Instagram)
This week, Instagram announced that it will allow advertisers to promote branded content posts instead of traditional advertising. This means that even if you aren’t following an influencer, you might soon see their content in your feed if a brand pays for it. “68% of people say they come to Instagram to interact with creators,” says Instagram. “With branded content ads, businesses have an opportunity to tell their brand stories through creators’ voices, reach new audiences, and measure impact.”

A US Senator Coming for Detox Teas and the Influencers Who Hock Them (Business of Fashion)
Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut has written a letter to the FCC asking the agency to investigate the “misleading, predatory marketing practices” of detox tea companies, and the influencers that are hired to promote them. Flat Tummy Co, Lyfe Tea, BooTea, MateFit, and Fit Tea were among the brands specifically called out by Blumenthal. “These products, marketed to adolescents and young adults through celebrity endorsements and social media for weight loss and wellness, are ineffective at best and dangerous at worst,” he wrote.

Derek Lam Receives Award for Fashion Design by the Cooper Hewitt
Yesterday, Derek Lam was given the 2019 National Design Award for fashion design from the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. The 20th annual National Design Awards program demonstrates the importance of design across a variety of sectors, and how it impacts the quality of daily life.

FIT Celebrates the Conclusion of Its 7th Annual Design Entrepreneurs Program
Last night, The Fashion Institute of Technology announced the winners of its 7th annual Design Entrepreneurs Program. The 12 designer finalists, who began their journey back in January, pitched their business plans to a panel of industry experts, including Tommy Hilfiger, Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger, Rag & Bone’s Henri Zirpolo, G-III CEO Morris Goldfarb, Bandier CEO Adrienne Lazarus, and Saks Off Fifth and Gilt chief merchant Thomas Ott.

For the first time, all of the finalists were women. Fiona Morrison of Wolf Circus took home the $100,000 grand prize to grow her line of sustainable, demi-fine jewelry. Nora Gardner was awarded the Israel Goldgrub Award with a cash prize of $50,000. “It’s been very difficult deliberating, all of us thought that everyone who presented was best in class, amazing,” said Tommy Hilfiger.

AUSFF Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary with a Summer Party
On Tuesday night, InStyle‘s Laura Brown, and designers Dion Lee and Camilla Freeman-Topper and Marc Freeman of Camilla and Marc co-hosted the Australian Fashion Foundation’s 10th Anniversary party at Gitano’s Garden of Love. Guests, including Alexina Graham, Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Fernando Garcia, and Joel Edgerton, sipped Volcan tequila and Bird in Hand wine. Each year, AUSFF awards two $20,000 USD scholarships and internships with top fashion companies in NYC and Europe to the next generation of Australian fashion talent.

Dree Hemingway and Charlotte Ronson Celebrate the Launch of The Summer Shop LA
Earlier this week, Levi’s, Liana’s Lili Chemla, Harley Viera-Newton, and Alison Chemla of Alison Lou hosted a launch party for The Summer Shop Los Angeles. Guests like Dree Hemingway, Langley Fox, and Charlotte Ronson previewed the shop while sipping Kim Crawford cocktails. The Summer Shop is open at 8476 Melrose Place until the end of June.
