After the backlash against its original name earlier this summer, Kim Kardashian has announced her shapewear line will now be called Skims. “My fans and followers are a huge inspiration to me,” she said in a statement. “I’m always listening to their feedback and opinions, and am so grateful they shared their ideas for a new brand name.”

In June, Kardashian announced she was launching what she called a “solutionwear” line. The original name was Kimono, which quickly came under fire. In addition to her products not at all resembling kimonos, many were worried that if her trademark on Kimono was approved, it could effect other brands using the word, specifically from Japanese companies importing actual kimonos into the US. A week later, she announced that she would launch the brand under a different name.

Kardashian later explained that she and her team had landed on Kimono as a pun on her name, and had not considered its larger ramifications. “You would think we would have obviously thought it through a little bit deeper,” she told WSJ. Magazine. “I’m the first person to say, OK, of course, I can’t believe we didn’t think of this. I obviously had really innocent intentions.”
Skims will launch on September 10th. Fans can now sign up for a waitlist online.
