Last week Chanel and Fendi teamed up in Paris to pay tribute to the life of Karl Lagerfeld. “Karl For Ever” — directed and staged by Robert Carsen — was presented to 2,500 guests at the Grand Palais. 56 giant portraits of Lagerfeld acted as a backdrop to live performances from actors, dancers, and musicians including Tilda Swinton, Cara Delevingne, and Helen Mirren who read excerpts from some of Lagerfeld’s favorite authors, and Pharrell Williams and pianist Lang Lang who payed musical tributes to the late designer.

This weekend the house of Chanel released a video reel of the event, bringing us inside the tribute. Not only are the aforementioned dramatic readings and musical features included, there are also clips of heartfelt personal tributes from the likes of Anna Wintour and Virginie Viard, Lagerfeld’s successor at Chanel. “I worked alongside Karl for almost 30 years,” says Bruno Pavlovsky, president of fashion at Chanel, in a filmed interview. “One thing that was constant throughout those 30 years was that Karl was above all a man of conviction and of intuition.” Check out scenes from “Karl For Ever” below.
