16-year-old Kaia Gerber is starring in her first campaign for Chanel, shot, of course, by the house’s designer Karl Lagerfeld.

In the photos, Gerber lounges placidly on a suede sofa in Gabrielle Chanel’s former apartment, clutching handbags and appearing to suffer from a very chic form of ennui. It’s all very fashion-meets-Freud.

Kaia opened Chanel’s spring 2018 ready-to-wear show in October and walked in the house’s couture show in January. She has also designed an accessories capsule collection with Karl Lagerfeld for his namesake line, according to WWD. In other words, her appearance in a Chanel campaign was really just a matter of time and, as it turns out, that time is now.
