(NEW YORK) Last night tout le monde came out to celebrate Jimmy Choo’s latest cruise collection over cocktails at Chelsea hautespot No.8, and in celebration of Sandra Choi‘s first public appearance in New York as sole creative director. Choi had been in town for a Vogue luncheon hosted on Bergdorf’s second floor as well as a personal appearance at the retailer’s shoe salon, where she was on hand to greet clients and even signed sketches (drawn on the spot!) of their shoe purchases.
Guests entered the party and posed in front of a giant ice sculpture containing the brand’s famous stilettos and danced the night away to DJ Harley Viera Newton‘s playlist while sipping on cocktails with names like Tartini, Crush, Escape, and Cooler that were inspired by the Cruise collection shoe names. The guest list included the likes of Jessica Joffe, Hannah Bronfman, Genevieve Jones, Sofia Sanchez Barrenechea, Kate Foley, Max Osterweis, Leandra Medine, Anya Ziourovia, Roopal Patel, Fabiola Beracasa, Marcus Teo, Jamie Chung, Mia Moretti, Cleo Wade, and Margot of The Dolls showed up to toast Choi and the new collection. Plus, a gaggle of male models like Alex Lundqvist, RJ King, Garrett Neff, Chad White, Josh Truedsell, Bryce Thompson, Alessandro Mele, Austin Otto, Adam Gallagher, Dorian Reeves, Ben Hill, and Tao Fernandez Caino, to name just a few were on hand to celebrate. A Choo fête is not to be missed, clearly.
Plenty of accessories editors made the rounds as well. We spotted Marie Claire‘s Kyle Anderson chatting up Lola Rykiel and Teen Vogue‘s Sheena Smith, so we had to ask: How many pairs of shoes do you own? “I own around 3,000 pairs of shoes! But my boyfriend and I are the same size, so we share,” said Anderson. And how many Choo’s? “Probably six pairs. I have two boots and the rest are all sneakers. There aren’t that many brands that make cool men’s shoes like Jimmy Choo.” Meanwhile, Rykiel and Smith couldn’t remember how many pairs they had, but suffice to say it’s plenty.
So where can we dig up their discarded footwear? “My little sister and I are the same size, so my rejections are her treasures!” said Rykiel. Smith also doles out the sisterly love, telling us, “I also send them to my little sister! I like to keep it in the family.” Anderson quipped, “In case you want them back!” We like how he thinks. So where does he get rid of his old shoes? “I donate them to really hot male models that have bad shoes,” said Anderson. We didn’t spy any of those male models wearing bad shoes (they were in Choo, of course), but we hope the rest of the boys out there are taking note.
