“Every year I make it a point to come up to see this,” designer Adam Selman told us at the unveiling of Bergdorf Goodman’s 5th Ave. flagship holiday windows. “They’re always such a spectacle and stunning. The windows take you somewhere.”
This year BG partnered with Swarovski, who has 7 million crystals on display and is the focus of the central store window, with a dedication to their 120th anniversary (called “The Birthday Party”). Additionally, three of the store’s designers—Johnson Hartig of Libertine, Naeem Khan, and CD Greene—created custom looks. Tanya Taylor echoed Selman’s sentiment: “The windows are the pinnacle of what you want to see around the holidays.”
After some window watching, we joined the cocktail party on the third floor, where guests gawked at an installation of Swarovski Crystal Palace designs by Tord Boontje, Yves Béhar, and D.B. Kim (on view through mid-January). Guests getting into the holiday spirit last night included BG Queen Linda Fargo, Nadja Swarosvski, Joshua Schulman, David Hoey, Iris Apfel, Fern Mallis, Taylor, Selman, Adam Lippes, Danielle Bernstein, Trey Laird, and current Daily obsessions Cipriana Quann and TK Quann.
BG and Swarovski have also teamed up for an exclusive selection of gifts, including couture gowns with crystal embellishments by Badgley Mischka, Naeem, Khan and Alexandra Vidal; a crystal dress by Tanya Taylor; a crystal jumpsuit by Alice + Olivia; crystallized clutches by Edie Parker; rock formations by Arik Levy; partridge grapes by Solange Azagury; and Swarovski-encrusted accessories, ornaments, and home décor items. It’s looking like a very, very, very shiny holiday season.
