H&M’s Collaboration With Giambattista Valli Is Gonna Be a Massive Hit

by Charles Manning

Remember when H&M collaborated with Balmain? People totally lost their minds. Within hours of the collection dropping, key pieces like bejeweled mini dresses and thigh-high boots were selling for 10 times their retail price on eBay. It was easily the retailer’s most successful collaboration. But this new collection with Giambattista Valli may just give that Balmain capsule a run for its money, especially in the days following the limited-edition drop H&M is planning online and at 10 select stores around the world this Saturday, May 25 (the full collection will drop November 7).

For one thing, the collection is about as true to Giambattista Valli’s glamorous, hyper-femme aesthetic as any fan of the brand could possibly hope for, with plenty of tulle, frouf, and frothiness to satisfy even his most twee customers.

And, of course, it doesn’t hurt that the collection got its debut today at the annual Cannes amfAR gala, modeled by the likes of Kendall Jenner and Chiara Ferragni.

The collection will range in price from $18 to $649, with Saturday’s pre-drop featuring clothes and accessories, including an interpretation of the enormous pearl necklace that is Valli’s personal style signature.

“I am excited about this collaboration: H&M gives me the opportunity to bring my vision of style and my celebration of beauty to a wider audience,” said Valli in a press release. “The goal is to share my love for beauty and to be able to be part of everyone’s “happy moments”, to help create love stories all around the world.”
