“Our wedding definitely wasn’t a capital-W wedding. It was a big cocktail party in a loft on West Street, and in the middle of it, someone clinked on a glass, everyone gathered ‘round, and the rabbi did the service. I actually don’t even remember putting on makeup! But it was perfect for us. We ended the night by taking over New York Noodletown in Chinatown at midnight with our friends. We go back there every year with our kids and the manager tells them the story of our wedding.”

“James and I celebrated exactly how we wanted: a daytime ceremony followed by lunch was perfect for our families, and then four days later, a blowout Saturday night party for all our friends. Twenty years later, we’re still doing things our way, and having tons of fun! At the ceremony, I wore a Calvin Klein suit and James wore Armani. My short lace shift of a party dress that I wore to the party now fits my daughter, Josie, like a glove. She wants to wear it to her high school graduation next June! Our friend, The Bellport owner Taylor Alonso, pulled double duty as chef and band member. He made our favorite foods, like pulled pork, and played all our favorite tunes (rock and roll). Our cake was a big white mountainous thing he called a “bomb,” like a baked Alaska, and he set it on fire!”

“We organized our whole ceremony around the view from the Soho Mondrian Hotel’s roofdeck! It was an unusually warm October night, so we rearranged plans to move the party outside. We caught this perfect sunset right after saying our vows. The dress is Pamella Roland, bought off the rack at Saks. We picked a wedding date last-minute to accomodate my husband’s Australian family, so I didn’t have time to agonize. I wanted more evening gown than wedding dress; a big to-do just isn’t my style. I tried it on in silver lamé (!) and had it made in ivory chiffon. I didn’t see the finished product until the night before the wedding! It came out perfectly.”

“Marco Zanini of Rochas and my editor-in-chief, Glenda Bailey, were my wedding fairy godmothers! They joined forces to ensure I got the dress of my dreams from Rochas’s archive. It was out of a movie when the box arrived at my desk with a heartfelt note from Marco (less than a month before the big day!). I tried it on right away in our fashion closet. I knew it was ‘the one’ before I looked in the mirror.”

“We took our first walk (virtually a skip) as man and wife out of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral. My dress was custom Marchesa, The bling? Neil Lane. [Mazdack] Rassi was in head-to-toe Burberry. Later, we found an awesome graffiti wall to have a pic taken. The rain made it even cooler. As did my custom Louboutins.”
