Giorgio Armani Haute Couture Spring 2016

by Paige Reddinger

Giorgio Armani’s Haute Couture collection featured a palette of lavender, periwinkle, and touches of black. If Picasso had his Blue Period, this is Armani’s mauve moment. While there were plenty of day pieces, the standout looks from this collection were the evening gowns. Perched front row were Iggy Azalea (Armani recently designed her dress for her upcoming wedding), Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling, Juliette Binoche, and Isabelle Huppert, to name a few. All were likely eyeing these looks for upcoming press events—particularly Rampling, who no doubt is on the hunt for her Oscars ensemble, and Giorgio Armani would be a fitting choice for the 69-year-old. On the other side of the spectrum, Azalea may have had her eye on the belted and sequined-bodice strapless gown with a tulle and sequined-striped skirt.

Waves and ruffles were prominent, and came in weightless silks and light organza. In keeping with the motif, a gorgeous deep-V lavender gown seemed to float down the runway—on the right person, this piece could be a real red-carpet win, along with any number of the other finale looks.
