How to Get Gigi Hadid’s Punk-ish Beauty Look at the MTV Movie Awards

by Kristen Heinzinger

At the MTV Movie Awards this weekend, Gigi Hadid shocked us all with a new set of bangs, which nicely framed her punk-ish makeup. “We wanted to create a nod to Donatella Versace’s signature black-rimmed eye—but with a twist of neon yellow that makes it punkier,” said Sarah Tanno for Maybelline New York. To that end, Tanno gave Gigi a velvety complexion, matte nude lips, and swiped on a neon pop of color on the eyes. The result? Chic sophisticate meets grunge. Check out the captions below to find out how Tanno created the look.

FACE: Tanno applied Dream Velvet Foundation all over for a semi-matte finish, and lightly dusted on Facestudio Master Fix Setting + Perfecting Powder in Translucent. To highlight Gigi’s bone structure, Tanno applied Facestudio Master Contour Face Contouring Pro Palette in Deep to Medium in the hallows of the cheeks and temples. She added blush to the apples and a wash of the highlighting shade along the high point of the cheekbones.

BROWS: For extra definition, Tanno traced Gigi’s arches with Eyestudio Brow Pomade Crayon in Blonde before brushing on Eyestudio Brow Drama Mascara in Blonde to lock hairs in place.

EYES: Tanno swiped Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayon in Barely Beige all over the eyelids as a base. For a smoldering effect, she lined the outer half of the top and bottom lash edges with Eyestudio Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayon in Charcoal Chrome. Next, she blended matte black The Rock Nudes Palette into the creases for dimension. For a pop, Tanno used neon yellow pigment on the upper lids and in the inner corners, and for added drama, she layered on Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara in Blackest Black.

LIPS: For the nude lip, a favorite of Gigi’s, Tanno lined and filled in her mouth with Color Sensational Lip Liner in Nude, then layered on Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid in Nude Thrill and Color Sensational The Buffs Lipstick in Bare All.

In other news…The mod continues to rack up her Vogue covers—we tallied up 11—this time for the Italian edition. In a black and white shot by Patrick Demarchelier, Gigi looks tres chic with a roughed-up top knot.

That So cool, I been looking around for some product similar to this. So far I’ve found “Perfect 10 eye shadow palette” for 4.99. Anyone know of some other options?
