Fragrance Foundation Honors Tom Ford, Gets Embarrassed, Censors Bottle

Last night, the Fragrance Foundation hosted their annual FiFi Awards, honoring the best of the best in the fragrance business. The awards are sort of like the Oscars of the smell industry, at least according to Emily Weiss’s Instagram of the award Glossier took home for Fragrance of the Year: Popular for Glossier You.

Other big winners of the night included Carolina Herera, which took home the award for Packaging of the Year: Women’s for Good Girl, which comes in a bottle shaped like a shoe, and Diptyque, which received two awards — Home Collection of the Year and Home Holiday / Seasonal Fragrance Product of the Year.

Tom Ford also received two awards last night — Fragrance of the Year: Men’s Luxury for Oud Minérale and Fragrance of the Year: Women’s Luxury for Fucking Fabulous. The later, which retails for $310 for a 1.7 oz. bottle, takes it’s provocative name directly from Ford himself, who was so overcome the first time he smelled it in a meeting that he exclaimed “This is fucking fabulous!” and thus, the name was born. Cute, right?

And yet, when the Fragrance Foundation took to Instagram to tout their winners last night after the event, they chose to edit the bottle’s name, putting a big red bar over the word “Fucking” on the bottle’s label and referring to it merely as “Fabulous.”

Congratulations to #TFFAwards Winners! #TFF #fragrancefoundation
