What: A cute (and spacious!) backpack from Alber Elbaz’s first collection for LeSportsac. The distinctive print is reminiscent of the designer’s days at Lanvin, where he made colorful animal prints, including blue leopard, a house signature.
Who: After exiting Lanvin in 2015, Alber Elbaz kept a fairly low profile, design-wise. Then, Japan’s Itochu Corporation approached him about designing a capsule collection for Converse. The resulting shoes were, of course, adorable, but much to the disappointment of his legions of fans worldwide, the collection was only available in Japan. Following the success of that first collaboration, Itochu reached out to Elbaz again, this time inviting him to work with them on a larger, more globally-accessible collection for LeSportsac.
Why: Admit it, you’ve missed Alber Elbaz and it would be nice to have a little something designed by him to brighten up your day and your look. Also, it’s back-to-school season and even though you’re probably past school age, that’s as good a reason as any to treat yourself to a new backpack.
