DSquared2 Spring/Summer 2017

by Kristen Heinzinger

There was plenty of everything for everyone to ogle in Dean and Dan Caten’s Spring collection for DSquared2. A Swarovski-studded jacket? Sure. A bedazzled pair of distressed denim pants? Why not. A royal crest-emblazoned, leopard print-sleeved, shoulder-padded blazer? Bring it on. Sequins, taffeta, denim, stripes, checks, bandleader jackets—even the soundtrack catered to the eclectic soul, with a mix of opera and house music. True showmen, the Caten’s collection was certainly something to enjoy, but leads us to wonder, what else do they have up their sleeves? That was quickly answered: the label will combine men’s and women’s shows beginning in 2017 and will show them both during men’s fashion week. “The fashion system itself needs to be as fluid and modern as the changes that it perpetrates on the runway,” the designers said in a press statement. “We’re ready for a new approach, and it’s one that comes naturally to us, because we always design the Dsquared2 man with the Dsquared2 woman in mind and vice versa.” To sum it up: #D2ForOne.
