Chic Morsels: Bon Appétit’s Grub Crawl Comes To Greenpoint And The LES On June 21

by Alexandra Ilyashov

Taking a break from our regularly scheduled fashion programming for a sec, this one’s of particular interest for the gourmands out there: Bon Appetit is bringing its absurdly tasty annual Grub Crawl back to the streets of NYC on June 21st. The two-leg feast involves plenty of walking (leave those heels at home, just trust) and tasty nibbles galore, with a daytime Crawl winding through Greenpoint and a nighttime Crawl attacking the LES. A few highlights? For the afternoon edible adventure through Brooklyn, stops include haute eats and libations at The Diamond, Glasserie, Coco (from Indochine and Bondst alum Michael Callahan), Alameda, and Manhattan Inn. Post-sunset, the Crawl takes you through Spitzer’s Corner, Huertas, Nightcap, Pig and Khao, and Contra. There’s no dress code, but Bon Appetit‘s restaurants  editor, Andrew Knowton, has some sage advice on proper attire.  “Grub Crawl is definitely not the time to break in those new selvedge denim jeans. It’ll be hot and you’ll be eating lots. You’ll need room to breathe and…how do I say this?…grow,” Knowlton explained to us. “If you have a pair of elastic pants hiding in the closet, this is the event to break them out. We call them Fat Pants around the BA offices.” In other words: save that crop top for another day, perhaps. Tickets just went on sale at noon today for $149 a pop, per Crawl. After NYC, the Grub Crawl will head to Nashville, Park City, San Francisco, and Dallas. Mouthwatering, non? In other BA news, their June issue just hit stands today. Loving that rosy-hued, pie-bedecked cover.
