Emilio Pucci Spring 2015

by Dena Silver

With a touch of fringe, a bit of macrame, and a healthy dose of bell bottoms, it’s clear that Peter Dundas had his eye on the ’70s for his latest offering from Emilio Pucci. But that didn’t mean the selection was limited to costume-y period pieces. A saccharine sweet ivory short suit was followed up by a pair of salmon trousers and a crochet vest in place of a shirt. Elsewhere, there was a prim and proper coat dress in a cheery hue of marigold and a sleek pair of overalls paired with a forest green suede jacket, decorated with a dusting of embroidery and strong fringe detailing. That same floral embroidery was peppered throughout, spiced up with a few studs and particularly enchanting when poured over a white pantsuit. As for those signature Pucci swirls? They cropped up on flowing silk halter dresses which grazed the floor. A number of tie-dyed frocks in similar silhouettes followed and packed even more of a punch, since they were draped on the gorgeous likes of Natasha Poly, Daphne Groeneveld, Joan Smalls, and Naomi Campbell. But beyond the supermodel factor, these dresses were the ultimate statement-making gowns, absolutely parfait for the jetsetting, Ibiza-bound crowd that rounds out Pucci’s customer base.
