On Wednesday night, The Daily Summer celebrated its season premiere issue with a poolside bash at La Piscine at Hôtel Americano. The crowd included the issue’s cover star, Toni Garrn, looking luminous in a chic white Zimmermann ensemble for the occasion, and legendary photog Gilles Bensimon, who shot Garrn in St. Barth. The crowd included Rebecca Taylor, Monica Botkier, Aliza Licht, Robert Verdi, makeup artist Alexa Rudolfo, designer Charles Youssef, and a gaggle of male mods including Cory Bond, Garrett Neff, and Bart Grzybowski.
“It’s a huge honor. I invited a bunch of my friends!” Garrn told The Daily. “I love that I looked so happy on the cover. I really do smile a lot in real life.” As for the libations and nibbles, there were Cointreau Rickeys, made with fresh lime juice and club soda, plus strawberry basil and cucumber mint iterations of the Rickey, as well as Peroni beer, a slew of vino options from Wines by Rioja, and shrimp tostadas and green olive and artichoke tapenade crostini.
With Independence Day on the mind, we quizzed Bond on his plans for the patriotic holiday. “I’ll be at my house in Tennessee. I have a 48-acre farm down there, so I like to host all of my friends and family for a party. I spent about $2,000 on fireworks. In Tennessee, you get to light your own!” Festive, non? The stylish crowd managed to navigate around the parameters of the tiny pool without any accidental dips. “I do swim a lot,” said Taylor. “And I always make sure to put my hair up in a ponytail and wear sunscreen. Not so glamorous!”
As guests bid adieu, they left with gift bags loaded with Evian water, a set of Cointreau Rickey essentials, passes to SoulCycle in Montauk and Pure Yoga in NYC, gift cards to Intermix, Vensette, and Shan, plus goodies from Boots Cosmetics, John Frieda, and Morroccanoil. Until next time!
