DAY 2: January 22, 2019
Chanel
Chanel transformed Paris’ Grand Palais, it’s longtime location, into a luxurious summer villa, complete with a garden, balconies, and even a pool. As always, Karl Lagerfeld — absent from the proceedings due to being tired — found a way to update the house’s trademark tweeds with new trends. Suits had long skirts and big cuts, while little black dresses were crafted out of tulle. Daywear items featured floral embroidery, while for night the label proposed enormous ruffles (a trend this season). Longtime Chanel ambassadors Kristen Stewart and Geraldine Chaplin were in attendance, as were other A-listers like Tilda Swinton and Tessa Thompson.

Alexandre Vauthier
Vauthier’s show also took place at the Grand Palais. Celine Dion nearly pulled focus, sitting in the front row. But the collection received the attention it deserved. Fully of sensual, feminine spirit inspired by ’80s Parisienne chic, the show featured deep-V necks and sleeveless dresses. Sequins, big ruffles, and animal prints were also heavily featured.

Givenchy
Givenchy’s new couture collection was titled “Bleached Canvas.” Designer Clare Waight Keller mostly kept her color palate monochromatic, but there were pops of yellow, red, and purple. Dresses with giant bows in the back were the standouts alongside feathered looks. Meanwhile Kaia Gerber was a vision in an all-lace ensemble with a pearl crown.
