Saks Fifth Avenue Unveils Holiday Windows with a Light Show

by Kristen Heinzinger

Saks Fifth Ave has got a sweet tooth! Jumbo swirl lollipops, whipped cotton candy, and piles of rock candy were at the center of the retailer’s holiday window unveiling in NYC last night. Titled ‘Land of 1000 Delights’, the theme is a landscape of colorful candy, which sets the stage for the festive Candy Couture bespoke dresses from Erdem, Carolina Herrera, Marchesa, Jason Wu, and more; each dress is inspired by a favorite holiday treat, like peppermint sticks or frosting. Those who came out to watch the magic unfold—including Saks’ president Marc Metrick, chief merchant Tracy Margolies, fashion director Roopal Patel, Adam Lippes, Georgina Chapman, Keren Craig, Mickey Boardman, Wes Gordon, and more—were also entertained with a rendition of The Nutcracker Suite, performed by a crew of 85 dancers from the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School Pre-Professional Division. The backdrop? A multicolored 10-story tall light show, and Saks’ six center windows which show scenes of Clara and the Mouse King in winter wonderland. Catch the light show from 5 to 11 p.m. until January 2, 2017—it plays every 10 minutes, so you can’t miss it!

We stood waiting for an hour last night (Christmas Eve). Perhaps they didn’t have it to control pedestrian traffic. I havd seen it before and it is a must see for Christmas.
