Nicole Miller Puts a Feminine Spin on Grunge

On Thursday night Nicole Miller delighted a packed house at Spring Studios with her Fall 2019 collection. Miller put an unexpected edge on her usual feminine aesthetic, drawing from ’90s grunge and punk. Dr. Marten boots, beanies, and slip dresses dominated the runway, hitting the trendy nostalgic wave that is currently sweeping the industry.

Pops of red, royal blue, and fuchsia peppered the mostly noir collection. Plaid was a recurring pattern — expected, given the theme. But zodiac symbols and faux zipper prints also popped up, a fun, unexpected twist. Despite its rock-and-roll leanings, the collection was still very much high-end, with luxury fabrications like fur trimming some of the pieces.

The collection was still unabashedly feminine. Skirts and dresses were at the heart of the lineup. Meanwhile trousers were cut to have a chic, subtly flared leg. Even though there were 38 looks, the show left fans wanting so much more! See all the looks below.
