Iconic supermodel Naomi Campbell will be giving the public a peek behind the curtain. She just released a trailer for a new YouTube channel called, “Being Naomi,” which offers viewers a much more personal view of the model’s life. Campbell states she decided to start the channel so “that you get to see [her] as a real person and the things that mean a lot to [her].”
“It’s taken me a long time to get to this point because I’ve always had such a fear of showing [who I am],” she explains. “But I felt that YouTube was the place to do it.”
The focus of her channel appears to be activism and empowerment. “This is the day we live in, and I want to share the things that I’ve learned, I want to pass it on,” she explains. “What’s the point of me keeping all this stuff in? I wanna share it with women across the world, and especially women and young women in Africa. I wanna see the next generation use the things that I’ve said.” Naomi, the world would be honored to hear what you have to say.
Campbell is not the only fashion legend creating her own channel. The queen of sophisticated minimalism, Victoria Beckham, recently launched a channel on the platform. Could fashion soon give up Instagram as its preferred social media outlet in favor of Youtube? Hard to say, but the video site is certainly growing in popularity amongst insiders.
