Lupita Nyong’o has joined Michael Kors’ Watch Hunger Stop campaign, the brand’s global philanthropic campaign against hunger. Now entering its seventh year, the campaign supports the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and its school meals program.
Every October to mark World Food Day on October 16th, Michael Kors has created special designs to raise money for WFP. This year, they’ve created a t-shirt (as seen on Nyong’o) and tote featuring the word LOVE, which will be available in select Michael Kors stores and online starting today. The brand will also be donating an additional 100 meals to WFP if supporters post a selfie wearing the shirt or holding the bag with the hashtag #watchhungerstop. The unisex t-shirt, offered in black and white, will retail for $40 and the black canvas tote, with leather handles, will sell for $59. For every LOVE t-shirt or tote sold, Michael Kors will donate all profits to children in need throughout the World Food Programme. The Watch Hunger Stop campaign has helped WFP deliver more than 18 million meals to children since its inception.
Kors will also be on hand later this month to raise funds for God’s Love We Deliver at the 13th annual Golden Heart Awards on October 21st at Cipriani South Street. The event will also be honoring Iman with the Michael Kors Award for Community Service as well as John Demsey and Mayor Pete Buttigieg. Check out a video starring Nyong’o spreading the “Food is Love” message below.
