On Saturday, in celebration of their 70th anniversary, Longchamp hosted their first full-fledged fashion show as part of New York Fashion Week. Located on the 68th floor of the 4 World Trade Center building in downtown Manhattan, the event utilized breathtaking city views as the backdrop for a show full of fun, fringy, ’70s-inflected clothes that were at once impeccably cool and utterly wearable.
Longchamp’s creative director, Sophie Delafontaine, said she designed the collection to evoke dreamy desert drives and late nights in LA, while at the same time, serving as a sort of tribute to the aesthetics of inimitable tastemakers Anita Pallenberg and Veruschka.
Notable attendees included Isabelle Huppert, Priyanka Chopra, Natalia Dyer, Awkwafina, Bryanboy, Camille Charriere, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Poppy Delevingne, and Soo Joo Park, just to name a few.
Kendall Jenner, who stars in the brand’s latest campaign for fall 2018, was also in attendance, wearing a sexy, violet suede mini dress — a khaki version of which later walked the runway.
Supermodel Kate Moss also made an appearance, turning up just before the show started, looking fresh-faced and absolutely stunning an black fringed Longchamp mini dress. Talk around the room was that this was only the second time Moss had attended a NYFW show in the last eight years. Either way, her appearance set off a flurry of excitement as she took her front-row seat between Jenner and Chopra.
Now, with their first New York Fashion Week show behind them, Longchamp is returning to Paris to prepare for their next big event: a blowout platinum anniversary celebration at the Opéra Garnier. If it’s even half as fabulous as their show, Paris is in for one hell of a night.
