Remember the original Beverly Hills, 90210? If you were alive in the ’90s, then you definitely do. Even if you weren’t, the answer is probably still a resounding “YES!” I mean, that show was the original prime-time teen soap opera. It’s iconic. And those characters — so rich, so beautiful, so troubled!
Well, the good people at Levi’s remember too. At least, the person in charge of naming their jeans does as they decided to pay homage to two of the show’s main characters when naming a particularly ’90s pair of high-waisted mom jeans.
Behold: the “Donna Martin,” in a light, stone-washed indigo, and the “Brenda,” in stone-washed black.

Brenda was always sort of the villain of the main cast, so it makes sense that her jeans would be the black ones. And Donna’s most defining character trait for most of the series was her virginity, so I guess naming the lighter pair after her makes sense, at least as a contrast to Brenda. That said, the ripped knee of the Donna Martins feels a little off to me. I just can’t imagine Mrs. Martin ever allowing Donna to wear jeans with holes in the knees. She was such a controlling and uptight monster, you know? They really should have named that pair the “Kelly Taylor” and created another rip-free pair for Donna.
That would just leave Andrea Zuckerman out of the mix. Poor Andrea. All those years spent pining after Brandon, forced to act as the group’s moral compass while never being truly accepted by them. Remember when they wrote her off the show by getting her pregnant? How could you, Aaron Spelling? She worked so hard and denied herself so much for so long only to get pregnant the first time she has sex. Meanwhile Kelly and Brenda are boinking like bunnies without a care in the world. I think. Right? Well, I seem to remember a pregnancy scare somewhere in there for one of them, but it didn’t amount to anything in the end.

That said, OMG! How brilliant would it be if Levi’s designed a pair of high-waisted maternity jeans and named them after Andrea Zuckerman? Or khakis. Yeah, they should definitely be khakis. High-waisted maternity khakis. With pleats!
