Kendra Scott Brightens Up Spring Studios With The Color Bar

by Dena Silver

This Friday, jewelry designer Kendra Scott is launching a program that bauble aficionados and aspiring jewelry designers will adore. Color Bar by Kendra Scott allows shoppers to choose from an array of metals and stone hues to adorn each ring, bracelet, earring, and necklace. Last night, a lucky crowd of New Yorkers were able to test out the Color Bar firsthand: Scott brought an army of Color Bar designers to Spring Studios, each plucked from her namesake boutiques. Bedecked in white lab coats, these jewelry geniuses guided guests through the creation process, offering up tips and quickly piecing together each colorful design in mere minutes. We talked with Scott about this delightfully personalized concept.

This space looks beautiful!
I literally got emotional when I walked into the room because 15 years ago, I started this business out of an extra room in my house with $500. That girl could never have dreamed about having an event like this in New York City. And I never take it for granted, this is like blowing my mind!

Are there any new designs on offer?
We have eight new stone shapes that have never been released before. We’re also launching some new metal colors for a few select styles, including rose gold and gunmetal.

After the Color Bar goes live, how can your customer base experience it?
This is available online and in all of our stores. We’ll have 38 stores by the end of this year!

Impressive. How long will it take for each piece of jewelry to be made?
You can walk into any of those locations and in a matter of minutes leave, with a custom piece of jewelry. Online, if you create a piece by 2 p.m., it will be on your doorstep by the next day. I’m all about instant gratification. I don’t want to wait for something, so I want my customers to get their jewelry right away, too!

Is there any other exciting news for Kendra Scott?
We’re working on a few pop-up shop concepts for this summer, but nothing has been confirmed just yet! Plus, we’ll be releasing an app to go along with the Color Bar. But in the meantime, you can access it from our site on your mobile phone.
