Joan Smalls is the new face of Michael Kors’ Spring/Summer 2017 campaign shot by Mario Testino, who shot the mod wearing sky-high platforms and ’30s and ’40s style floral dresses while she languidly reclined in a classic car. “The combination of strength and femininity was at the core of the collection, and Joan Smalls was the perfect embodiment of that spirit,” said Michael Kors in a press statement.
For the MICHAEL Michael Kors campaign, Taylor Hill and Romee Strijd represent the jet-set lifestyle as they are pictured boarding an airplane in mostly black and white ensembles with a toy poodle in tow. “I wanted to capture the on-the-go, high-glam lifestyle of this new generation of supermodels, shot in a crisp, graphic, warm-weather way,” said Kors.
The car and plane motif is a constant in Kors’ campaigns. For Fall 2016, Freja Beha Erichsen was photographed by Testino in the back of a Rolls Royce while Emmy Rappe, Romy Schonberger, and Sven de Vries were piling into a helicopter.
The new ad campaign will officially debut in the February issues of Vogue, Vanity Fair, and Harper’s Bazaar in addition to international issues and digital outlets.
