After making a splashy appearance together on the red carpet at The Golden Globes on Sunday, Rupert Murdoch, 84, executive chairman of News Corporation, and former supermodel and actress, Jerry Hall, 59, announced their engagement on the Births, Marriages and Deaths page of The Times yesterday. RupJe (as they will hereby be known) have been dating for an impressive four months after meeting in Australia over the summer. They made their first public appearance together at the Rugby World Cup final in London in October with the publishing titan planting a kiss on the former mod’s face at the event. It will be the first marriage for Hall, who was famously involved with Mick Jagger from 1977 to 1999. (The couple had a wedding ceremony in Bali in 1990, but it was never legally valid.) Hall and Jagger have four children together including model Georgia May Jagger. Murdoch split with his third wife Wendi Deng in 2013.
Another engagement that’s making news (and is much less surprising) is actor Jason Statham and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who showed off a $350,000 Neil Lane engagement ring at The Globes. The couple has been together since 2010.
Congrats to all!
